Diary sub-note: 1916. Captain Fryatt shot by the Germans We packed our trunks. June helped me. I played tennis with Fredie Beatty.

July 23rd 1936

Diary sub-note: 1916. Sir William Ramsay, scientist, died Played to Drako. There was tennis coaching by Miss Wight. It was very sunny all day. I played tennis with Muriel.

July 17th 1936

Diary sub-note: 1870. Franco-Prussian War declared Had History and Composition exams. Played tennis with Diana Porter-Hargreaves against Tish & Freedie & then with Liz Fanshawe against Anne & Diana Phayre.

Diary sub-note: 1189. Henry II died Had JL? Tennis match. We beat them 5-4 matches. Bobby came & so did Daphne. Edie took a picture of my Woody for me. Susan went. She looked adorable in a blue evening dress.
