Diary sub-note: 1384. John Wycliffe, reformer, died Had a picnic in the snow. Skied[sic] for nearly 6 hours. There was a fancy dress dance & I was a Gypsy. We had a lovely dinner & danced up to 1.30. Had cards & things from daddie.

Diary sub-note: 1660. Royal Society established Skated in the morning. Skied[sic] in the afternoon. Wrote to Bobby. Finished my book. There was an ice carnival & I played ice hockey. Went to bed at 11.15“Little Ham” came too.

Diary sub-note: 1809. Gladstone born Skied[sic] in the morning & skated in the afternoon. Had tea & baths. Played cards after dinner.

Diary sub-note: Innocents’ Day 1879. Accident at Tay Bridge Full Moon, 4.0 a.m. Skated all morning & all afternoon. Made friends with 2 little kids at the same hotel who were skating. Played with the little ones in the evening. Danced.

Diary sub-note: 1st [Sunday] after Christmas. S. John 1834. Charles Lamb, essayist, died Ski-ied [sic] for the first time. Went to watch ski jumping which was very good. Skated. Wrote to mummie & daddy. Had a Christmas card from Bobby.
December 25th 1936
Diary sub-note: Christmas Day (Quarter Day) 1066. William I crowned Had a stocking from Daddie. Had 2 things of David. Decorated the tree. Had a big Christmas dinner & sang to Mlle’s friend after. Went to bed at 10. o.clock.
December 24th 1936
Diary sub-note: 1525. Vasco da Gama, navigator, died Stayed in all day. Went for a walk after tea. Marjorie went off to Ceylon & Mlle Ricko went home. Put up the mistletoe. Opened one of my presents.

Diary sub-note: 1588. Assassination of the Duc de Guise Went to have my hair done. Leslie went out. Bought flowers. Decorated the school. Had lots of presents, cards & letters.

Diary sub-note: Shortest Day 1880. George Eliot, novelist, died Went for a walk to collect ivy for decorations. Went into the town to shop & have tea. Started to knit a berret [sic].

Diary sub-note: S. Thomas. Michaelmas Law Sittings end 1375. Boccaccio, Italian novelist, died Moon: First Quarter, 11.30 a.m. Had another present from Mummie. Went into the town to shop. Daddy sent me a calendar & Dordor £1.10/- Had letters from the Millers.
