Diary sub-note: 1771. Sir Walter Scott born
S.R. 5.45, S.S. 8.23

Shopped in the morning. Took Yandi for a longs walk with Mummie in the afternoon. We got lost in some woods which was fun. Came out by Nautical college.

Diary entry August 15th 1936

Diary footnote, accompanying a photograph of an Irish Terrier: THE IRISH TERRIER. Clearly allied to the Airedale, of which he is really a smaller edition. Although all nondescript red, rough-haired terriers are liable to be dubbed ‘Irish,’ the true Irish Terrier is of ancient lineage, and a rare ‘dare-devil,’ as may be expected from his nationality. He is one of the hardiest of the terriers, able to withstand wet and cold to a marked degree, and of all terriers, perhaps the most lovable.
