Diary sub-note: 1917. Lord Cromer, statesman, died

Julie came back. Started the curse*. It rained & so we went for a walk. Jill Thompson came. Read all the ‘Morning Post’. Had 2 buns for tea. Didn’t go riding. Daddie sent me some pencils with Peggy Newgass on them.

*the curse refers to her menstrual period.
